Iconic EastEnders villain looks unrecognisable in new role 8 years after soap
Fans of EastEnders will remember the troubled Steven Beale, who was played by Aaron Sidwell from 2007 until he was killed off in 2017.
The notorious bad boy was known for a number of storylines, including a hostile relationship with his dad Ian (Adam Woodyatt), accidentally shooting his stepmother Jane (Laurie Brett) and multiple suicide attempts.
Eight years after he left the BBC soap, Aaron has appeared on our screens again and its safe to say that he is worlds away from his days on Albert Square. Fans have been left stunned over his latest unrecognisable role.
Aaron is featured in a new Amazon Prime series, Fyre Rises, where he plays a fanatic named Priest. He startled fans as he presented himself covered in white makeup whilst boasting a leopard print outfit.
What’s more, his vicious character has impressed fans at home who praised his performance. Taking to social media, a number of viewers commended his acting skills but were left equally terrified.
One person said: “Couldn’t imagine anyone else doing this role he is fantastic.”
A second fan agreed and typed: “Such a good baddie.”
Speaking on X about his inspiration behind the villain, Aaron said: “My performance being described as “echoing” Heath Ledger as The Joker is an indescribable honour. His performance in The Dark Knight has been the biggest inspiration to me as an actor. I have a poster of him up in my dressing room.”
Aaron is also currently performing in the London West End in the latest revival of the classic musical, Oliver!
Playing the role of Bill Sykes, the show is being held at the Gielgud Theatre until September. Previously speaking to BroadwayWorld, Aaron admitted that he has always been a lover of theatre art.
He said: “When I first started working in TV, I felt quite like a fish out of water, as opposed to when I first started doing theatre.
